Episcopal Church of the Redeemer

Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, The history of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer dates back to 1874 and includes having Jefferson Davis as an honored member of the church’s Vestry.  Redeemer’s historic 1891 church building stood close to the edge of gulf waters in Biloxi for over 75 years until being ravaged by Hurricane Camille in 1969.  With the bell tower still intact, the church was rebuilt only to be swept away by Hurricane Katrina in 2006.  HCG was selected during schematic design to assist with cost control, quality assurance, design assistance and methodology recommendations.  Phase one of the campus relocation project included a 6,000 square foot worship facility along with substantial site improvements, parking and utility infrastructure.  The church is flanked by a representation of the original bell tower complete with the restored original bell, manual cord bell pulls and stone quoins – all strikingly similar to the 1891 structure.  Other refurbished original elements were incorporated including stained glass, a wooden cross.
